Software engineer. Backend systems, and the tooling that lets AI agents act on them.

I’m a software engineer building backend systems and AI / agentic tooling — the layer where models stop answering questions and start operating real infrastructure.

I work primarily in Go and Python, and I’m deliberately unattached to tools: ADK, LangChain, LangGraph, or plain HTTP calls and a state machine — whichever one actually fits the problem. Frameworks are a means. Reaching for the fashionable one costs more than writing the thing yourself.

What I care about is how a system behaves when things go wrong. Failure as a design input rather than a retrofit: timeouts and retries that are safe to repeat, tool access scoped to least privilege, and enough tracing that you can answer “what did the agent actually do?” after the fact. Agents that touch real systems need the same rigor as any distributed system — because that’s what they are.

Most of what I know about infrastructure I learned in public: contributing to librsvg with the GNOME Foundation, edge-case coverage for Kubernetes’ cloud-provider-openstack, and a PKCS#11 module for Namecoin.

When I’m not at the terminal — photography 📸, reading 📚, and the history of systems that shaped the modern world.

Selected work

VegaIntel

A Prediction Market Intelligence Engine that explains why a Polymarket price moved, not just that it did. A Go MCP server exposes market data and a deterministic signal engine for whale, skew and volume activity; a Python ADK agent turns those signals into a cited explanation with a confidence score, then scores itself against the actual price 48 hours later.

An agentic application for international travel.

The Dilemma of Transitioning

What happens when you're experienced enough to know how to build production systems, but still need someone to give you a chance to prove you can do it in a new domain?

Tools, Resources, Prompts: Three Primitives, Three Cost Boundaries

Most MCP tutorials teach you tools and stop there. The protocol gives you three primitives, and they are three different cost and trust boundaries — which is where your latency, your permission surface and your duplicated prompts actually live.

Your Fallbacks Are Hiding Your Bugs

Five bugs from one hackathon build. Every one of them failed silently, and every one failed silently for the same reason: the subsystem was designed to degrade instead of crash.

Just shipped Omnistant, an autonomous context agent built solo in seven days on Google ADK and Gemini — live on Cloud Run, and the clearest thing I've written about how agents should be allowed to state a fact. Gave my first talk in August — production-ready MCP servers — to the Nigerian Gophers Meetup. Back on VegaIntel, now in private beta — it explains why a Polymarket price moved, with a Go MCP server feeding a Python agent that checks its own explanation against the outcome. Also building Trippy, an agentic application for international travel. Still contributing to librsvg. Available for backend and AI-systems engineering work — contract or full-time.
